COVID-19 Update: Reopening for Corporate Worship

July 2, 2020

Beginning Sunday, July 5th, we will be reopening for Corporate Worship. We will be easing back into meeting and therefore will only have room for 135 people to attend each service. Folks will need to register to attend worship each week. We will still be live-streaming the service on Facebook Live and YouTube Live for those who are unable to make it. You can find more information about what to expect and guidelines to follow for corporate worship below:

In light of COVID-19, things will look a little differently. Please read over the following safety protocols:

      • We ask that individuals who are considered “high-risk” or have serious underlying health conditions (high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma, and compromised immune systems) refrain from coming to public worship at this time.

COVID-19 Update: Continued Suspension of Corporate Gatherings

April 22, 2020

In a recent address, Gov. Kemp suggested the reopening of certain businesses across the state.  While he mentioned religious services, he recommended staying with the format of online worship for the time being. While we all hope for a return to normalcy as soon as possible, the leadership of Seven Hills Fellowship has decided to continue with the suspension of all corporate gatherings through May 17th.  We, the session,  have been meeting on a regular basis, and will continue to do so, in order to evaluate the ongoing situation.  The church office will remain closed for the time being.  If you have something that needs to be dropped off, you can use the mail slot on East 6th or contact Katie at katief@sevenhillsfellowship.com to arrange a meeting.

We believe this is a wise and loving decision for our church and for the city of Rome. The COVID-19 virus is spreading rapidly, with older people and those with underlying health conditions being the most vulnerable. If the spread of the disease can be slowed down, then it “flattens the curve” and prevents sick people from overwhelming the health care system. That means those who need help can get it. Not meeting corporately for the time being is a way to love the vulnerable and those serving them.

Before each Sunday morning, we will send out a Home Worship Guide via email and post it under Community Group Study Guides that you can use in your homes to worship.  We all feel the loss of not worshipping corporately together over these next few weeks. Public worship is part of God’s grace to us for our good and His glory. We will offer this weekly guidance with eager anticipation for when we will meet again to worship together. This decision is not made out of panic or fear but rather out of trust in a Sovereign King, with care and concern for our community and our family of faith.

During this time, if you need prayer or other forms of support, please contact the session of elders at session@sevenhillsfellowship.com.  If you have not signed up for the 7@ 7 you can do that here.  If you would like to continue to give online you can do that here. And, if you haven’t yet signed up for the Redeemer Formation Devotional you can do that here.

Together in Christ,

The elders of Seven Hills Fellowship

Finally, please remember these actions to prevent illness:

  • Clean your hands often (at least 20 seconds, with soap)
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Avoid close contact
  • Stay home if you’re sick
  • Cover coughs and sneezes
  • Clean frequently touched surfaces daily

COVID-19 Update: Continued Suspension of Corporate Gatherings

March 24, 2020

The leadership of Seven Hills Fellowship has decided to continue with the suspension of all corporate gatherings through the end of April.  The leadership of Seven Hills has been meeting on a regular basis, and will continue to do so, in order to evaluate the ongoing situation.  Though we had allowed the church office to remain open previously we have now decided to close throughout the week.  If you have something that needs to be dropped off, you can use the mail slot on East 6th or contact Katie at katief@sevenhillsfellowship.com to arrange a meeting.

COVID-19 Update: Cancelation of Corporate Gatherings Until March 27

March 13, 2020

The session has decided to cancel corporate gatherings for Seven Hills Fellowship until March 27. Specifically, Sunday morning worship in the DeSoto Theater is suspended on March 15 and 22, as well as youth group, connection groups, and other special events during those weeks. We will evaluate the situation again at that point.  The church office will stay open during these weeks.

We believe this is a wise and loving decision. The COVID-19 virus is spreading rapidly, with older people and those with underlying health conditions most vulnerable. If the spread of the disease can be slowed down, then it “flattens the curve” and prevents sick people from overwhelming the health care system. That means those who need help can get it. Not meeting corporately is a way to love the vulnerable and those serving them.

Before Sunday morning we will send materials you can use in your homes to worship along with some common scripture and encouragement.  We feel the loss of not worshipping corporately together over these next two weeks.
